Embracing Your Season

The-changing-seasons1

If I asked you what is your favorite season, I’m sure each of you would have a season you LOVED and looked forward to.   There is just something about that season that you enjoyed, whether the colors, the smell, the temperature, the activities you can do, the holidays that are in that season, etc.

The same could be true of the seasons that you dislike too.   It’s too hot, too cold, too long, etc.

Now, if I were to ask you what season of life YOUR in right now, what season are YOU in?    Are you a new mom?   Recently retired?   Empty nesters? Going through a separation or divorce?  Newly married?   Up to your eyes in baby, toddlers, & sleepless nights?   Just experienced a loss of a parent, spouse or child?   Just moved to a new house or new job?

What ever season YOUR in, you need to learn to embrace where God has you.   We all go through many seasons in our life time, from great, happy, sad, trying, hard, joyous, fearful, exciting, lonely, fun, etc.

In Ecclesiastes 3:1-8 says:
To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:

A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted;

A time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up;

A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance;

A time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing;

A time to get, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away;

A time to rend, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak;

A time to love, and a time to hate; a time of war, and a time of peace.

Our life consist of many changes….through these times of change it is where God uses situations to grow us, strengthen us, mature us, and to show Himself mighty and real in our lives.

Here is a few things to keep in mind:

Embracing these times in our lives helps us to see God working.  We can have an attitude of defeat or negative thoughts or we can choose to have Joy!   Choosing joy helps us to see things that we wouldn’t have seen otherwise.    If you are in a time of your life where things are tough or trying, rely on God’s strength and see what He is trying to teach or show you.  If you are in a happy & exciting time of your life, enjoy it and soak up all that God is pouring out to you.

God wants us to enjoy and embrace every season of our life.  Just think, if we lived where there are NO seasons or NO change, it would be rather boring, wouldn’t it?

We also need to keep in mind that seasons are temporary.  They soon will pass!  If you are living through sleepless nights because of a new baby or experience change because of a child leaving the home or readjusting to life with out a special loved one.  Remember it’s all temporary!  It too shall pass.

Different seasons are also purposeful.    It doesn’t take God by surprise by what is happening in your life.   He is allowing things and circumstance in our life to mold and make us more like Him.  He’s taking time to  maybe purge things from our life or show you how Great God is!

Romans 8:28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.

Remember that you are  NOT alone and that God is there through the good and the trying times.   Even when God feels like He is distant, He is there!  Seek after Him and embrace the season that you are in right now.  It is temporary and there is a purpose for all that God allows in your life!

What season are YOU in right now?  Are taking the time to embrace all that God is doing?

Here is one of my favorite songs by Mandisa.   Take a listen and enjoy!

I’ve entered a new season with my husband now being deployed and what you’ve shared truly was needed today. And I know it is fully relying on God that will get me through these months. His presence is so felt! Honestly…THANK YOU for this.

    Well said! I’ve been thinking about this very thing a lot lately. It struck me the other day how drastically different our current season is from those of the past. Our three children are now 11-15, and everything – even down to the sounds of living – is different. I do regret not embracing their younger years enough, yet I am enjoying this season so, so much, and I’m so grateful to be able to do so. God is good! Blessings to you ~ Jenni
