I don’t know many households where they don’t eat macaroni and cheese! It’s almost like it’s an staple for most American families. This recipe is something we enjoy making and LOVE eating. One of the bonuses of this recipe is you don’t even boil the noodles. It saves time sand it also saves on washing more pots! Amen! (I love that part)
This recipe is so easy and quick that my girls are able to put it together and it tastes so much better than the box kind. Now I’m not knocking the “box” kind,….. we do from time to time still eat that one, but this is wonderful for potlucks at church, company, or just as a side dish for one of your own meals.
Here are the ingredients:
- 2 1/2 cups macaroni, uncooked
- 3 1/2 cups milk
- 5 tbsp butter, melted
- 3/4 tablespoon table salt
- 8 oz. processed cheese cubed (feel free to add more if you like it really cheesy)
- 3 cups of shredded cheese
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Prepare a 13 x 9 pan with non stick cooking spray.
Cut your processed cheese into small cubes or shred it. In a medium bowl, combine milk with melted butter. Add in salt. Pour in uncooked macaroni and processed cheese
Next add in 2 cups of shredded mixed cheeses ( you can add a little less if you life or more if you want it a bit cheesier) and make sure it’s all mixed together good.
Finally, you can pour the mixture into your prepared baking dish. Cover with foil.
Bake for about 50-60 minutes. I would check it around 40 minutes.
Take it out of the oven, remove foil, and top with about 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese. (depending on how cheesy you like it) Put it back in the oven (uncovered) for another 10-15 minutes (until cheese is melted)
